Malaria, Chikungunya cases recorded in Delhi till mid-September hit highest in 5 years

With 33 new cases added last week, Delhi’s Malaria count stood at 297 till September 13 this year-marking the highest in the last five years during the same period-according to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Chikungunya cases in the Capital also hit the same record as four new cases of this Vector-Borne Disease (VBD) were reported last week, bringing the total to 46 for the year.

Between January and September 13, the total number of Dengue cases recorded in Delhi stood at 619, officials said. 62 new cases of Dengue were recorded in the Capital last week. The Central zone of Delhi reported the highest number of cases at 67, closely followed by the Delhi Cantonment area with 66 cases, officials noted.

As per MCD officials, 9 Malaria patients remain untraceable, while 19 cases were recorded with incomplete or incorrect addresses.
